Browder Guest Speaker on American Democracy at Public Policy Institute in California

(Announcement:  June 15, 2004)

Eminent Scholar Glen Browder will participate as a guest speaker at the Panetta Institute’s Leadership Seminar for college student body presidents in California.

Browder will present his views on “The Transformation of American Democracy” to  conference participants on Friday, June 18, 2004.

According to the Institute’s directors, “Leadership and politics have taken on a dramatically different look in the aftermath of September 11, the war in Iraq, economic and budget crises, and continuing political gridlock.  Serious issues range from terrorist related national security problems to concerns over constitutional rights.  From the battlefield to the halls of Congress to the streets of our communities, leadership is being challenged as never before.  We want to identify and discuss these challenges with the students, prepare them for leadership roles, and encourage them to pursue lives of public service.”

Browder’s  presentation, scheduled for September 23, 2004, is an elaboration of his unconventional thesis about the Great Experiment of American democracy, which has been featured in numerous forums throughout the country.
