The Browder Collection
Jacksonville State University Eminent Scholar Glen Browder who previously served as
a U.S. Congressman, Alabama Secretary of State, and Alabama State Legislator is
donating his public and private records to the JSU library.
President Bill Meehan says that the university will process the material into the
“Browder Collection” for access by interested citizens and research scholars.
Most of the collection will be classified for “open” access; however, certain
files will be “restricted” (requiring permission of Browder and/or the
persons involved) due to their sensitive nature.
JSU personnel are now sorting and cataloguing a couple of hundred boxes of legislative papers,
office documents, campaign files, academic research, media coverage, and
miscellaneous memorabilia from Browder’s lengthy career as a public official
and political scientist. The collection will be located at the library;
and a special site will be posted on the Internet, with some of the records
being digitized for electronic distribution.
Following are research projects based on information in The Browder Collection.
Additional studies will be posted as they become available.
